NEW MEMBER QUESTIONS

Question:

I would like to be a new member and I have a few questions:

- Can you just take classes with the equipment and not on the mats?

- Can I just pay for a single class to see if I like it?

-Can you do classes just on flexibility or would I have to have a private?

- What are the costs for a private compared to a class?

Dear New Member,

- All our classes are on the machine only, there is no mat classes.
– Absolutely, you can pay for a single class and if you like it, we can apply that session to a package or monthly pass.
– We have over 70 weekly classes, I’m sure that you will find a session that will fit in your schedule.
– The cost is $80 for a private compared to an average of $20 for a class.

WELCOME TO THE NEW PILATES PLUS WEHO WEBSITE!

Hello, my name is Sebastien Lagree (no, it’s not me on the picture, that’s my awesome wife Carrie on the newest SPX Invention, The Megaformer.)

I own the studio located at 8500 Melrose and I’m also the creator of the SPX Fitness/Pilates Plus workout that is taking LA by storm. In addition, I have developed  the Proformer and the Megaformer. This Blog is dedicated to the members, the workout and the studio.

If you have any questions, comments, recommendations about the workout, the machine, and the studio; please post them here. In addition, as part of my blog, I will post past emails that some of you have sent me over the past 6 months regarding diet and nutrition.

THE MEGAFORMER IS HERE!

 

Sebastien is proud to announce that the Megaformers are here at the studio in West Hollywood. The Megaformer is designed to offer more exercises in counter resistance, speed up the transition time between exercises, accommodate a wider range of fitness levels, and is easier to use. Overall, you will burn more calories than when using the Proformer. Please, come check them out.

HOW MANY TIMES SHOULD I DO CLASS?

 

The frequency depends on the intensity. The more intense the workout is, the less often you need to train.

The sessions on the Megaformer are very intense (while minimizing the impact on the joints) and therefore should be limited to 3 times per week.

I know that some of you love to do the workout every day, but I think it’s a waste of time. If you feel the need to train more often, pick another activity such as yoga or hiking. The rest and recovery time between each session is almost as important as the session itself!

It’s going to take a few days for your body to repair and overcompensate into a stronger and tighter body. Remember that stronger muscles burn more calories at rest. Sometimes less is more.

PRICING POLICY

 

Here is an email I received on Monday 04/26/2010:

Sebastian,
I wanted to send a warm congrats out in you’re continued success. I live on the west side and I’m dedicated to your studio in West Hollywood because I really like the trainers and it’s convenient from my work.
I have two concerns, I would like to share and I hope you take into consideration. When I first started at your studio I tried the $99.00 package and loved it! Second month, bumped it up $149.00 and still love it! My recent pass for my two month Pilates routine expires 5/2/2010 I want to continue on a third month, but why would I pay $199.99 when I could pay $125.00 for unlimited classes on the west side? The problem is I want to stay in WEHO not move studios for the bargain price.
It’s not fair to your dedicated customers that continue to sign up the huge price difference right now. There are several people that have also been voicing these concerns before and after class. I believe you should be aware of these types of concerns especially coming from loyal customers like myself. If you don’t agree at all than I wish you all the best and will continue my fitness elsewhere.”

ANSWER:

Thank you for your comment. Many studios offer discounted packages to attract new clients. Those prices are temporary and usually don’t cover all the expenses a studio occurs on a daily basis. Some studios offer a $99 unlimited sessions per month. Now do the math if someone were to come 30 days: that would be about $3.3 a session. If all the members were to pay that same price and came that often, the studio would be making $33 per session; not enough to just cover the instructor’s expenses! Let alone the Rent.

I’m all for lower prices; I started the $59 monthly pass a couple months ago and it has been a great success but if you want me to continue to provide the same level of service, I need to keep my prices as is currently.

IS THE FIRST SESSION FREE?

 

Many of you have asked me if the 1st session is free at my West Hollywood location.
The answer is no because I have to pay the instructor:)

However, here are 2 great options:
1) Buy the single session at $39. If you don’t like it, we’ll refund $20 on the cc you made the purchase with.
2) Buy the single session at $39. If you do like it, we’ll credit that amount toward the purchase of your  next package.

2. Then login our website.
3. Go to the BUY SESSIONS page from the Top Menu Bar.
4. Click on the $39 single session.
5. Click on the BUY SESSIONS button at the bottom to confirm your purchase.
6. Then go to the SIGN-UP FOR CLASSES from the Top Menu Bar.
7. Select your class and Click on the CONFIRM button.

CAN I UPDATE OR UPGRADE MY MONTHLY PASS?

 

“I have never visited your studio or have any experience in pilates so I am hesitant to sign up for a monthly pass. But if I do sign up for a monthly pass and after my first class finding that I really like it, is it possible to upgrade the monthly pass for one where I can go more times a month.

For example- if I sign up for the $59 pass for 1 class per week and want to upgrade to the $99 per month for 2 classes per week, paying only the additional $40, is that possible?”

ANSWER:
Yes, absolutely. You can upgrade your monthly pass to any one of them. Just make sure to email us as soon as possible so that you don’t “lose” days. The Monthly Pass are, in my opinion, the best way to go. If there is a Monthly Pass that do works for you, you can always select the Auto-Rebill feature so that its renewed every month.

QUESTIONS ABOUT MONTHLY PASS

 

Dear Pilates Plus West Hollywood,

Would you be kind enough to answer a few questions about your membership please?
*Is the scheduling/availability that’s visible online without logging into the site the actual availability for classes right now?
*At the $149 rate, 3 Classes max/week – if three classes are not taken in one single week, can the remaining classe(s) ‘roll over’ to later weeks within that month?
*Is advance registration necessary to join a class or are walk-ins welcome as long as space is available?
*Do you offer a first month special for $149 for the unlimited max 1 class/day package like the other locations?

ANSWER:

The schedule that you see from the website shows you the actual availability but won’t allow you to confirm sessions until you have signed in into your account and prepay your sessions. If you purchase the $149/3 times per week and do not come one week, the sessions do not roll over. You just lose them. Sorry. Walk-ins are welcome but we do not guarrantee availability. Priority is given to our active clients. The monthly passes are only offered at our locations.

PARKING RECOMMENDATIONS

 

We do have parking underneath the building. The entrance is located on La Cienega Boulevard just south of Melrose on the west side of the street. We do validate the parking.

There is also free 2 hours parking on West Knoll Drive from 7AM to 7PM.

Please do not park in the alley, these spaces are reserved for other tenants in our building. Violators will be towed.

SHARED MEMBERSHIP?

 

“I just moved to LA, and I’m really excited about finding a Pilates studio. (I loved my Pilates classes in the San Francisco Bay Area, where I was living for the last few years). I’ve heard great things about Pilates Plus, and I’m interested in buying a package of classes. If I like the first class, I’d like to get the unlimited package. My living situation right now is kind of complicated because I am living in Los Feliz a few days a week and living in West Hollywood a few days a week. I’m really hoping to find a membership that will allow me to work out in both locations. I know that there is a Pilates Plus in Silverlake, and I was wondering if it would be possible for me to buy some sort of package that would let me attend classes in both locations. If there is any way this is possible, please let me know, and I would really appreciate it.

ANSWER:
Each studio is owned and operated independently. Therefore, you membership is only valid at the studio where you buy it at. If you really want to attend both studios, I would recommend our $59 monthly pass which allows you to come once per week and allows you to purchase additional session for that week at $15 each. It’s the most economical solution. I’m trying to get other studio owners on board with that program so that more members can go to several locations without paying the full price at each. I would love to hear your thoughts on that?
